However, people with a concealed carry permit may feel that they have to compromise between wearing a stunning outfit or bringing their weapon. Although it may take some extra effort, there are many ways that people can carry a concealed weapon while wearing formal attire.
1. Select the Attire
Before choosing a carrying method, people should select the outfit they want to wear. While it is possible to put on baggy clothing or wear a trench coat all night, that may not be comfortable or appropriate for the occasion. If the outfit looks too out of place, it may look suspicious, which negates the entire purpose of concealing a weapon. Put on the outfit and examine it from all angles. Look for areas where the fabric is tight or loose and determine the most effective location to place concealed carry holsters.
2. Choose the Right Weapon
If only one weapon is owned, then this part is easy. However, if there are multiple weapons to choose from, then it is important to choose one that is the easiest to conceal without unduly restricting access. When selecting a weapon, it is a good idea to consider the size and shape, as a larger weapon with a shape that is easier to conceal may make a better choice than a smaller one with a more obvious outline. 3. Experiment With Concealment Methods
The type of outfit can dictate the most effective concealment method. Wearing a suit jacket or vest can provide an excellent place to carry a weapon with a minimum of discomfort. However, it is possible to wear a slinky dress or other tight outfit and still conceal a weapon. Experiment with thigh, chest, hip and other types of holsters and think of ways to break up the outline of the weapon with scarves, shawls or sweaters. If there is enough time before the event, think about taking the outfit to the local tailor shop and have it altered to more easily accommodate a concealed weapon. If it is not comfortable to conceal the weapon on the body, then consider placing it in a purse or bag.
