How to Prevent Getting Locked Out of Your Car

No one enjoys getting locked out of their car but unfortunately, it does occur. And while you may know what to do when you get locked out of your car, do you know how to prevent getting locked out of your car? Or at least prevent having to call a locksmith to help you get back in your car?

Get a Spare

The number one thing you can do to at least prevent having to call a professional to unlock your car is to create a spare key. Once you have the spare key, you can give it to a friend, family member, or neighbor that you deem as dependable. When you do happen to get locked out of your car, you can call them and have them bring you the spare. To get a spare, you can call your local locksmith and ask about car key duplication orlando. They will be able to tell you if they are able to duplicate your key, how much it will cost, and how long it will take. Having a spare key for your car can also come in handy for many different scenarios such as sharing a car with a significant other or if you ever need to drop it off at a repair shop and prefer to keep a copy of the key for yourself.

Invest in a Lanyard

To prevent leaving your keys anywhere, especially in your car, invest in a colorful, bright, sparkly, or somehow noticeable lanyard. If your keys are hard to miss, then the chances of you leaving them someplace start to decrease. The same thought can apply to getting keychains that are large or eye-catching. Something like a multi-colored or glittery pom-pom or ball of fur is almost impossible to forget. You can also keep your keys on a carabiner or chain that attaches to your pants or wrist. Then if you do start to leave your car without your keys, they come with you.
